Sustainable urban and regional development
Sustainable urban and regional development is a central issue in contemporary development policies. It aims to ensure that cities become safe, efficient and resilient places that can guarantee access to essential services while reducing insecurity and vulnerability among their inhabitants.
This includes implementing measures to mitigate the impacts of climate change, improve citizens' quality of life and promote responsible resource management.
Areas of expertise
Ginger SOFRECO contributes to urban development in several different areas. We work to support urban and environmental planning, create local economic development and territorial marketing strategies, strengthen the project management capacities of local authorities, and are involved in urban and socio-economic infrastructure engineering.

Urban planning and environmental planning
Ginger SOFRECO works on projects aimed at automating and improving sustainable municipal planning, financial management, investment and revenue monitoring, and smart urban planning. This includes the use of technical tools such as computer-aided design (CAD) and geographic information systems (GIS) for input provision and analytical tasks. These projects also involve the creation and use of base maps, spatial data for integrated infrastructure systems, satellite images and plans.
Another important challenge is the development and implementation of an environmental and social management system for cities. This system includes a monitoring database that documents monitoring activities and specific environmental quality indicators in the field.

CHALLENGES AND PROSPECTS
Climate and regions: building urban resilience
Climate change is one of the major challenges facing urban and regional development. Its effects, such as heat waves, rising sea levels, water stress, food insecurity and increasingly frequent extreme weather events, are having a profound impact on cities and regions.
These impacts exacerbate social and economic inequalities, particularly in developing countries, where vulnerable populations are exposed to the greatest risk.
Given these challenges, Ginger SOFRECO is committed to strengthening urban resilience by integrating climate issues into its activities, in order to contribute to more sustainable, inclusive territories that are better-equipped to face future risks.
