Energy infrastructure
Ginger SOFRECO supports its clients in designing and implementing innovative solutions to meet the energy challenges of emerging countries, from energy production to distribution, whether conventional or renewable.
Most of our projects in this field involve the development of electrical infrastructure, which promotes the transition to clean and sustainable energy sources.

Areas of expertise
Ginger SOFRECO supports public and private project owners in the design, implementation and monitoring of complex energy infrastructure projects, covering the entire chain, from energy production to transport and distribution.
With proven expertise across the entire project lifecycle, from design to commissioning, we guarantee services that comply with international standards (technical, environmental and social), while optimising timeframes and costs.
Our work focuses on four main areas of activity:
Project management assistance for project/programme management
Supervision of works: production, transport and distribution
Technical and economic feasibility studies, and environmental and social impact studies
- Project design through preliminary studies to identify technical solutions and plan their implementation
- Technical and economic assessments of different options to ensure the right balance between cost, performance and sustainability
- Comprehensive feasibility studies, including preliminary and detailed preliminary designs, to secure investment decisions
- Specific studies focused on incorporating renewable energies (solar, wind, hydropower, etc.) and smart technologies (smart grids) into interconnected or isolated electrical networks
- Systematic integration of environmental and social issues through impact assessments in accordance with international standards

Challenges and prospects
Fair and sustainable access to electricity for all
In 2023, only 53% of the population in sub-Saharan Africa had access to electricity, leaving nearly 600 million people without a reliable power supply. This energy deficit hinders economic development, limits access to essential services such as healthcare, education and drinking water, and hinders sustainable improvements in living conditions. Rural areas are particularly disadvantaged, with electrification rates often below 30%, exacerbating regional inequalities.
Against this backdrop, the development and modernisation of energy production, transport and distribution infrastructure is a strategic lever. This involves extending territorial coverage and ensuring equitable access to energy, as well as supporting demographic and urban growth to facilitate the energy transition. It means promoting low-carbon, resilient and inclusive models, in line with social justice and sustainability goals.
