Areas of expertise

Our activities include developing and implementing multisectoral human resource management strategies, supporting public policies and sector governance, optimising staffing levels and staff retention mechanisms, and setting up training programmes tailored to the needs of health systems.

We also contribute to the modernisation of educational infrastructure and training curricula by incorporating innovative approaches and supporting skills development among key sector stakeholders.

We work closely with national stakeholders and our technical partners to ensure that we offer tailor-made solutions that are based on local circumstances and focused on maintaining the skills of healthcare professionals.

Challenges and prospects

Aligning training for healthcare professionals with the real needs of the healthcare system

One of the main challenges in health human resources lies in ensuring that the training provided to professionals is aligned with the real needs of the healthcare system. Too often, training remains focused on academic approaches that are disconnected from reality, such as the management of priority diseases, community health or the use of innovative medical technologies.

To address this challenge, it is essential to strengthen synergies between training institutions (medical schools and paramedical schools) and people working in the field (healthcare facilities and health authorities). This will help to adapt curricula to the evolving epidemiological, technological and organisational demands.

The development of practical training, supervised internships and the integration of modules in public health or healthcare management are key levers for training competent, operational professionals capable of responding effectively to the needs of the population. By adopting a collaborative and dynamic approach, we can create a more resilient healthcare system that is better prepared to face future challenges.
