Vocational training and employment
Access to quality training and decent employment is a key lever for economic and social development. Ginger SOFRECO is committed to strengthening training and professional integration systems to meet the challenges of the job market.
Areas of expertise
Ginger SOFRECO's Vocational Training and Employment Department supports public and private stakeholders in developing effective vocational training systems that meet labour market requirements. Our services cover the entire training and employment spectrum, from technical and vocational education to strategic sector studies, curriculum review, skills assessment and the implementation of quality assurance systems. Our aim is to promote the employability of young people and vulnerable populations while strengthening the competitiveness of local economies. This theme also addresses the economic challenges of preventing the flow of skills from countries in the South to countries in the North.

Vocational and technical education
Ginger SOFRECO supports governments and institutions in developing high-performance technical and vocational education and training (TVET) systems tailored to economic needs. Our work focuses on the following areas:
- Support for vocational training reform: support for governments in drawing up and implementing national strategies aimed at modernising and structuring vocational training opportunities
- Support for the creation, transformation and/or rehabilitation of training centres (centres of excellence): design and implementation of infrastructure adapted to technological developments and sectoral needs
- Creation of partnerships with the private sector: development of collaboration between training establishments and companies to promote workplace apprenticeships, work-study programmes and employability among young people
- Improvement in matching skills to the labour market: development of training plans and modules in line with the requirements of economic sectors, while incorporating key skills and new technologies
- Development of quality assurance systems for vocational training: establishment of benchmarks and quality indicators to guarantee the recognition and relevance of the training provided
Using an integrated, impact-oriented approach, our experts work to enhance the effectiveness of vocational and technical education systems in order to facilitate the socio-economic integration of learners and meet the national and regional needs of the labour market.

Challenges and prospects
Matching training to jobs - a major challenge
Matching training to jobs is a major challenge when it comes to promoting entry into the workforce. According to the International Labour Organisation (ILO), nearly 75 million young people worldwide are unemployed, while many sectors are struggling to recruit due to a lack of qualified profiles. To bridge this gap, it is essential to strengthen collaboration between training institutions and businesses, adapt curricula to emerging professions and incorporate cross-disciplinary skills such as digital technology and entrepreneurship. Measures such as short courses leading to certification and continual skills assessment are key levers for ensuring a better training-employment match and promoting sustainable entry into the labour market.
