The project, funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), aims to enhance climate-resilient livelihoods and strengthen value chains in the highland regions of Laos. It focuses on improving agricultural productivity, sustainability, and market access for smallholder farmers while integrating climate adaptation measures. Through technical assistance, feasibility studies, capacity building, and the design of climate-smart agricultural models, the project seeks to boost rural incomes, improve infrastructure, and strengthen institutional capacities for long-term sustainable development in vulnerable upland communities.
Project duration : 6 years
Qualification
The team leader will have
(i) at least a master’s degree in livestock or veterinary science or related disciplines;
((ii) at least 15 years of experience in implementing and managing international and regional livestock or agribusiness development projects or programs engaged in animal health systems management, improved livestock productivity, livestock value chains and regional livestock trade;
(iii) prior experience with at least three ADB financed projects;
(iv) excellent written and oral English skills and strong inter-personal skills;
(iv) proven ability to lead a large team of specialists from various sectors and disciplines;
(v) an ability to understand and work with rural communities, as well as institutional hierarchies in Lao society; and
(vi) Experience working in the agriculture sector in Lao PDR or other countries in Southeast Asia, and knowledge of Lao PDR policies, institutions and institutional/legal environment.
