Long-term technical assistance for the resettlement plan of the Kandadji Ecosystems Regeneration and Niger Valley Development Programme (KERNVDP) ( 2011 - 2015 )
The Kandadji Ecosystems Regeneration and Niger Valley Development Programme (KERNVDP) involves building a dam and its related structures, providing support for the development of 45 000 ha of irrigated perimeters, and building a hydroelectric power plant. The programme's objective is to reduce poverty through natural regeneration, and by improving food security and covering energy requirements.
Its implementation will lead to the involuntary displacement of approximately 38,000 people and their resettlement on new sites.
The primary goal of the technical assistance is to support the Project Implementation Unit in the resettlement process for programme affected populations.
