Preparation of the Improving Nursing Quality and Capacity Project

The objective was to support the preparation of a project aimed at improving the quality and supply of nurses in Turkmenistan by improving the quality of nursing education and training, modernising the nursing training institution and strengthening human resource management in the health sector. We supported the development of a strategic document for the ADB's engagement in health sector reform.

The technical assistance provided expert advice on human resource planning for health and medical education, governance and economic assessment, and capacity building. The main outcome was due diligence and project design. This includes the documents required for loan processing, technical assessments of the nursing and/or medical training system and programme, recommendations on the potential for public-private partnership programmes, review of medical training programmes and initial project design and the human resources register for health.
