Technical assistance mainly consisting in:
- Support to the Environmental and Social Management Unit (ESMU) of the SNEL (national electricity company of the Democratic Republic of the Congo) for monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of the Environmental and Social Management Plan for the PMEDE, SAPMP and other SNEL projects.
- The establishment of institutional and operational mechanisms to ensure compliance with the World Bank safeguard policies, national laws and international environmental and sustainable development commitments applicable to the project.
- Institutional capacity building of the SNEL's ESMU in terms of environmental management, and support in defining the SNEL's environmental and social policies and procedures for energy production, transmission and distribution.
