The general objective of the project was to contribute to the efforts of the Government of Turkey towards ensuring the safety and quality of human tissues and cells from donor to patient, in line with EU legislation. The following activities were performed:
- Aligning the legislation with the EU acquis.
- Improving the administrative capacity of personnel working in structures specialised in tissues and cells.
- Establishing the data collection system and training personnel on how to use the forms.
- Attaining international standards for bone marrow centres, tissue typing laboratories and cord blood banks, and training personnel on standard operating procedures (SOP) and accreditation.

This assignment focused on building the Ministry of Health's management and steering capacities for the 'obstetrical package' project, and on transferring skills to the various actors in the package system, particularly the concerned services of the Ministry of Health including the PNSR (National Reproductive Health Programme), the Regional Health Action Departments (DRAS), the 'package' managers, and the members of the package management committees.
The assignment included two components: (i) assistance to the contracting authority, and (ii) implementation of two studies.

The overall goal of the Community Health Workers Programme was to provide equitable access to health care services to the population of Liberia by strengthening community health interventions through a national standardised community package of health services provided by trained, deployed and motivated community health workers. Phase one was formative in nature and had quantitative population level objectives for outcomes. It shaped and supported full implementation during the next phase of the project.

Technical assistance to the Project Management Unit (PMU) for the implementation of the Support to the Modernisation of the Judicial System project (AMSJ) (total project value EUR 22 million). Improvement of the capacities of the judicial system (organisation, training, transparency). Providing the entire judicial system with IT management tools. Improvement of the documentary and archiving system.

Provision of independent, high-quality monitoring and evaluation inputs on projects and programmes through assistance in the initial stages and real-time evaluation of IfS actions (providing assistance for conflict prevention and urgent responses to political crises and man-made or natural disasters) which fall under the remit of the Service for Foreign Policy Instruments.

End of project evaluation of the Natural Disaster Facility (NDF) to assess the impact of the project in the short and medium term and produce lessons to be learned for future initiatives of this kind. The overall objective of the project  is to improve the human security level of the populations of ACP countries and to reduce the social, economic and environmental costs of natural catastrophes with the ultimate goal of poverty reduction. The specific objective is to reinforce the capacity of preparedness to natural catastrophes by national and sub-regional ACP institutions.
