The MCA-Benin II Project was completed by the closing date of the Compact on 22 June 2023, with the exception of the contract for the IPP connections of the EIFFAGE/RMT Contractor. The post-completion supervision activity focuses on the removal of reservations and the correction of defects during the Defect Notification Period, in collaboration with the SBEE teams. The current assignment is aimed at supervising the construction work on the connections for the four IPP solar power plants, as well as the removal of reservations for the other contracts, in accordance with standards and contractual requirements.

The purpose of the PEEAE2 project is to restructure and extend the electricity distribution networks in 9 towns in Senegal: Saint Louis, Zinguinchor, Kaolack and Fatick, Thiès, Tivouane and Mbour, Touba and Diourbel. The extension and rehabilitation works, estimated at EUR 20 million, concern 214 km of MV lines and 165 km of LV lines, the creation and rehabilitation of 85 MV/LV substations, and the remote control of 74 MV/LV switching stations. The Owner’s engineer mission includes two phases: a review of existing studies/procurement and the supervision of the works/management of the company's contract. The services aim to ensure the smooth running of the works in accordance with the contractual specifications and in compliance with quality standards, deadlines and costs, as well as the efficient commissioning of the project. The engineer acts as the Client's representative.

The MCA - Senegal II Transmission Network Modernisation and Reinforcement Project (Transmission Project), for the benefit of SENELEC, will result in the construction of 16 km of 225 kV submarine cables, 31 km of 225 kV underground cables and 2 new 225 kV substations, as well as the installation of 5 new 80 MVA transformers.
Within the framework of this project, the Consultant is in charge of the following activities:
- Carrying out detailed designs and environmental and social impact assessments (ESIA);
- Preparation of Resettlement Action Plans (RAP) in accordance with the Resettlement Policy Framework (RPF);
- Economic and financial analysis and assistance to MCA - Senegal II in defining the monitoring and evaluation framework;
- Preparation of tender documents (including environmental, social and health and safety clauses) for the construction works and implementation of the RAP;
- Assistance in the procurement and hiring of contractors;
- Construction supervision.

Within the framework of the Water and Electricity Services Improvement Project (Projet d’Amélioration des Services d’Eau et d’Electricité - PASEEL) financed by the World Bank, the main objective of this mission is to draw up a plan for the optimised development of the means of power generation, transmission and distribution of electrical energy in the Central African Republic over a period of 20 years (2020-2040) in order to meet the energy and power demands of the population and the national economy and to facilitate the integration of renewable energies.
SOFRECO carried out three master plans for power generation, transmission and distribution and also developed ESIA screening, a Geographic Information System (GIS), a financial and economic analysis, a modelling and an investment plan; static and dynamic simulations of the electrical system as well as a study of the tariff implications of the master plans.

The overall objective of the second phase of the project to build the Zagtouli 17 MWc photovoltaic solar plant is to help develop the generation of cost-effective renewable electricity in Burkina Faso. This project is taking place under an EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) turnkey contract, and will bring the capacity of the Zagtouli plant to 50 MWc.
In the framework of this contract, SOFRECO is providing technical assistance and procurement support to the project promoter, SONABEL, Burkina Faso’s national electricity company, from the review of the studies through to the contractual arrangements with the Constructor.
