Support to the sustainable improvement of drinking water supply and quality: (a) study and support the implementation of water supply management institutional and technical systems; (b) optimise the infrastructures and equipment set up during PRS I; (c) install new drinking water supply systems; (d) assist the private sector in terms of technical training and the strengthening of maintenance and spare parts management.

Supervision of the application of the World Bank’s safeguard policies in all of the EMRRP projects and setting up of an organisation capable, in time, of taking charge of the environmental management of projects implemented in the DRC. The EMRRP covers 7 provinces and targets the rehabilitation of essential infrastructure (1500 km of roads, 200 km of track roads, water treatment plants, hydroelectric and thermal power plants), the restoration of basic social services (schools, health centres …), and the revival of plant and animal production.

SOFRECO is drafting Independent Review Reports (mid-year and end-year) and is signing off on the 2020 JORC Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves Reports for the Al Khabra mine.
The mineral resources and ore reserves are being reported by MWSPC under the Australasian Code for Reporting of Exploration Results, Minerals Resources and Ore Reserves, the JORC Code (2012 edition), for the period ending 31 December 2020 (January to September with actual data, and October to December with forecasted data).

Objectives of the project: After an evaluation of the existing situation, the strategic study will recommend the priorities to be addressed in the sector in the short- to medium-term, and will propose the necessary modifications to be made to the operation and institutional structure.
Services to be provided:
- Proposals and recommendations aiming to improve the quality of the public service, focusing on:
a) A clear definition of the functions of each unit of the new model recommended, and of the roles and responsibilities of the institutions, in order to avoid overlaps;
b) Improved working procedures.
- Development of a strategic plan for 2017-2022 for the mining sector and of a strategic plan until 2030 for the MME, DGMD.

Analysis of the exploration method and mineral resource estimation for nickel ore in lateritic deposits.
Audit of methods and procedures for mineral resource estimate including the benchmarking with JORC standard.
Identification of areas for improvement and preparation of recommendations.
Audit and JORC certification of nickel mineral resources in one mining license.
